A development of 99 new house units on a sloping 19 acre site, close to the centre of the town of Totnes, affording splendid views across the River Dart. TWP were appointed by Linden Homes to provide civil engineering design for the public and private highway works, along with the design and detail of the below ground drainage system. The new adopted highway design has been submitted by TWP to DCC Highways for adoption under Section 38 of the Highways Act 1980. The drainage system comprises an adoptable foul network vested to South West Water under a Section 104, as well as a foul sewer requisition under a Section 98-101 to connect the site to the existing public sewer network. All surface water runoff from the adoptable highway, as well as private hard standing areas, discharge into the ground via Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) in the form of traditional soakaways and permeable paving. This not only ensures the natural site conditions are mimicked but prevents polluted water from freely discharging into the River Dart, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
